British company Vistek has united the basic spectrum of production into modular system V1600 which allows combining various types of units in one cabinet: analog and digital for operation with video and audio signals, fiber-optics for operation with HDTV signals.

For location of modules of series V1600 two types of cabinets are produced. The cabinet 3RU contains 14 boards and two power blocks, and model 1RU — four boards and one power block.

Under a cover of the front panel there are working modules. They are easily taken from the cabinet. Switching-off of other modules thus is not required, that is replacement can be made in “hot” mode. It enables to replace without switching-off of the lines connected to the cabinet that essentially reduces time of module replacement. Replacement of the block with sockets can be also made in “hot” mode and, if necessary, only for single module. On account of plenty of modules, cabinet V1606RV is provided with intensive cooling.

Analog audio distribution amplifiers

Module V1638 provides distribution of one or two symmetric analog audiochannels. There is an opportunity of change of its configuration that allows distributing two input channels to four outputs or one input channel to eight outputs. For this purpose the double-row switches on module PCB are provided.

Three versions of distribution amplifier V1638 are produced. The standard version is provided with direct symmetric inputs and outputs while version V1638TI is provided with transformer uncoupling on input and an opportunity of change of level of input signal by means of corresponding switch which adjusts level of signal on output of the distribution amplifier in the range -96…+24 dB with increment 0.5 dB. Version V1638TI10K is practically similar with V1638TI, but has higher input resistance (10 kOhm).

All three versions are intended for distribution of audio signal which level does not exceed +28 dBu. Besides all models have the primary low-frequency filter on each input channel.

Amplifier V1638TI provides indication of signal presence and socket for connection of headphones that allows supervising a signal quality by ear.

The front panel of amplifier V1638TI is provided by indicator of signal presence and indicator, informing that signal has level below -40 dB (signal is absent). Below the mini jack socket for connection of headphones for the signal quality control is located. This function serves for backup of basic system of listening and for simplification of search and localization of possible malfunction.

Digital audio distribution amplifiers

V1630 module

Module V1630 provides distribution of one or two datastreams of digital audio in format AES/EBU. The module can be remodelled for use of two input channels on four output channels or one input channel on eight outputs by means of double-row switches on module PCB. Without dependence from configuration the module takes single place in the cabinet.

Two versions of the module performance are possible: with symmetric (110 Ohm) or asymmetrical (socket BNC, 75 Ohm) path. On module input the automatic definition of signal concerning rate of sampling AES is involved. During operation on any channel it is possible to switch on or switch out the cable length compensator or reclocking function. The front panel of the amplifier provides indication of the signal presence and is also provided by an indicator, informing that the signal has losses or distortion of AES input. This function serves for simplification of search and localization of possible malfunction.

V1617 module

Distribution amplifier of V1615 family

Distribution amplifier V1617 provides a signal delivering from single input to seven video outputs and has additional through not corrected output. The module includes a variable compensator which can be chosen as cable compensator or compensator of the information about color for frequency of subcarrier 4.43 or 3.58 MHz. Operation by all functions of V1617 can be realized from the front panel of the module or remotely by means of control system DART.

Digital distribution amplifiers of video

Family V1615 of serial digital distribution amplifiers provides cable correction and reclocking of SDI signals for transmission on distances up to 250 m. Standard unit V1615 receives the component serial signal at input and provides distribution of eight corrected and reclocked signals. Processing of EDH to SDI can be realized in the module V1615E version. The user needing in reception of distributed SDI-signal without any corrections, can choose the module V1615N version.

In module V1615D with double SDI input the digital distribution amplifier provides cable correction and reclocking of two SDI signals for distribution on distances up to 250 m. In the first input channel there are four output channels of distribution, and in the second channel — three outputs. Modules of V1615 series allow to operate with SDI signal which stream speed in the range 143…360 Mbit/s.

Module V1616 takes a double place in modular cabinet, but on an output provides sixteen reclocked and corrected SDI-signals.

First of all, the module V1614 can distribute not only SDI signals, but also ASI-signals which are often used for signal transmission on satellite transponder. This module provides both cable correction and reclocking of SDI and ASI signals for transmission on distances up to 250 m. There is also version without signal correction (V1614N).

Module V1627—4 is not only classical distribution amplifier SDI with functions of correction of signal, but also allows to check the digital signal circuit of analog monitor NTSC or PAL.

Module V1628—4 differs from V1627—4 that it can be configured so that instead of four control outputs PAL or NTSC one output PAL/NTSC and one output of component signal YPbPr are realized finally. Both modules will automatically find out an entering frequency of line scanning and will convert it to the corresponding standard.

V6153 distribution amplifier

Distributor V6153 has been designed so that to correspond to existing margins of modular system V1600 of Vistek company, providing simple transition to integration and SD (standard resolution), and of HD signals (high resolution) in general environment. Two versions of this distributor are produced: the first includes a possibility of reclocking, the second — without this possibility. Both versions of the module allow to distribute the SD or HD signal to eight users. High characteristics of this module allow to operate in wide range of data transmission speeds (143, 177, 270, 360, 540, 1484 Mbit/s), and thus the function of signal reclocking can be used in the whole range.

Several months ago the Vistek Company began to produce the similar version of V6153module, but already to 16 outputs of distribution of HD or SD signal. New module V6154 takes double place in the cabinet.
