The Mobile Cellular Receiving Transmitting Antenna of Ku Diapason MAS 150 M
By Leonid Pitchugin

The research-and-production integration specialists in the applied mechanics of the Rechetnev Academy an the I.S.P.A.-Engineering Company conducted a number of investigations in the field of adapting of the antennas' making technology of the Russian connection satellites to the conditions of using of antennas systems on earth. The mobile cellular receiving transmitting antenna MAS 150 M that is used for the connection through the geostationary artificial satellite in the frequency Ku band became the result of these works. The development is unique as by its technical decision as by the opportunities of use (Ku band is 11/14 GHz, the electric characteristics, antenna's overall dimensions, the energy of the artificial satellite covering) with the advantages of the cellular reflector (small weight and overall dimensions if the set condition, etc).

The technical and exploitation characteristics of MAS 150 M come up to the requirements of the main world satellite operators, including Intelsat, Eutelsat, Loral Skynet and others. According to the price/quality ratio the new development is highly attractive for the organisations which deal with the system integration. Taking into accounts the guarantee and after guarantee support of the producer MAS 150 M can easily compete with the best western samples. The constructive peculiarities of the antenna allow calling MAS 150 M the ideal decision for the reporter TV and radio broadcasting.

The antenna system weights only about 30 kg and consists of the four main functionally finished assembly elements: reflector, which is done as the folding umbrella construction with the hard power and auxiliary spokes, flexible cable frame and the metallic radio reflective net flat, the mechanism of unfolding of the reflector on the mechanic support, exciter on the mechanic support and support-rotating facility which includes the hard base for the strengthening of the antenna system on the tripod support and putting into the horizon rotating facility which allows aiming the antenna system by the angle and azimuth of the place.

For the comfort of transportation and storage the assembly elements of MAS 150 M are placed in the special container that is appropriate for the transportation by any means of transportation. The antenna system is simple in exploitation, folding and unfolding. The time of unfolding on the work ground is less than 7 min. During the opening of the reflector the work surface of 1500 mm area is formed. The special platform set on the tripod support provides an opportunity of editing of user's apparatus.

Stages of putting of antenna into operation condition

MAS 150 M is assigned for the exploitation in the hard meteorological conditions. The maximum operating wind speed can achieve 20 m/sec (normal operating wind speed is up to 12 m/sec), the diapason of the environmental temperature -50...+60°C, the relative air humidity up to 100% at the temperature of 25°C, the atmosphere pressure 630.800 mm m. b. Accordingly, the exploitation of MAS 150 M is possible in the rain, snow and shower.

To appraise the operating opportunities of MAS 150 M by the main operating characteristics look at the table below.
