The GaSSS Systems The storage systems GaSSS (Gee advanced Shared Storage Solution) are based on the fiber mirror disc arrays. They were developed by the English company Gee Broadcast Systems and represent the original finished solution for the storage of the media data used in the creation of the broadcasting, news and complexes of preparation of programs organized on the SAN base. In such systems, consisted of the integrated into one fiber optic network station of entry, editing and preparation of video, the creation of graphics and setting of air, control and broadcasting, and the servers, used as the general array of the data storage, the SAN GaSSS systems provide the online access to all of the stored material for all the users at the same time. That sufficiently increases the efficiency and effectiveness of work of the broadcasting complex as a whole. So the extracted and finished on one workstation material can be edited on the other stations and the same video fragments can be used at the same time on the different workstations and servers connected to the work group. The reliable and fault-tolerance GaSSS systems allow organizing on their base the complex of non-stop broadcasting with the use of arrays with the fitted technology of the information security (RAID level 5) and an opportunity for the 'hot' change of blocks for that purpose. The capacity of the GaSSS systems that provides the high carrying capacity (at the use of two-channeled fiber optic communicator of GaSSS systems maintain the data flow up to 160 Mbit/sec) might be joint and achieve 5000 GB if it is necessary. That provides an opportunity to store over 130 hours of video of Digital Betacam quality or more than 600 hours of video of MPEG-2 broadcasting quality.
