Case-racks for audio and video equipment
for mounting TV and audio systems in studio
and outside manufacture

Vadim Duplishev

In outside equipment field, Era company offers constant and semi-constant TV transmitting units, based on mobile multi-camera TV systems and 5.8-camera mobile television station based on Mercedes Sprinter's chassis. During designing such systems one have to solve questions connected with ergonomic and functional arrangement of equipment at workplaces. Below we will describe various case-racks that are used in mobile multi-camera TV systems, constant and semi-constant transmitting units, or devices for transporting equipment.

Today, Era offers several types of such cases of various dimensions and with different additional accessories, having various level of equipment protection from mechanical damages.

Pro-Rack case-racks of maximum protection

There are two main types of Pro-Rack-series cases: with or without antivibrator equipment protection. Antivibrator cases may transport equipment even in a usual lorry. Inner rack in such cases is put on eight special dampers for equipment installment. Cases without antivibrator protection are fixed directly to external carcass.

Cases' carcass is made of high-quality 9 mm Finnish plywood with perfect strength and rigidity characteristics. High characteristics of this plywood are achieved by using birch as veneer sheet; orientation of direction of veneer sheet's fibers by four ways in various plywood layers; optimal selection of glue mixture for veneer sheet layers. The outside part of the carcass is covered with plastic. The carcass employs hands for transportation and locking frontal and back covers. In closed position the covers adjoin the carcass tightly thanks to special gutter in duralumin profile of carcass and cover setting. Steel spheric angle cover plates provide additional strength of the system and prevent the case's angles from accidental impacts. Inner side of back cover employs special ways for cable winding.

Additional fittings allow composing furniture of various configurations, which creates additional facilities during operating outside.

The company manufactures two case lines, differing by rack's width: 500 and 70 mm.

Pro-Rack series cases may be completed with additional accessories, including trolleys for transporting the case inside operating rooms, stationary and sliding shelves, sliding boxes of different height, solid and dinking cap panels, etc.

Light antivibrator cases of E-Rack series

Equipment installed into the shock resistant case
Light antivibrator E-Rack cases are good solution for transporting equipment systems by aircraft and rail transport. Thanks to light outer carcass, made out of aluminium alloy, reliable locks and folding hands, steel inner rack, these cases may be used for outside equipment sets, for instance, satellite communication systems or recording systems.

One important detail is tight joint of covers to the case carcass and possibility of setting special air valve. Thanks to this, the case may transport the most fragile measuring and other equipment, sensible to sudden pressure difference during, for example, aircraft transportation.

There are available four main cases' dimension types of 4U, 6U, 10U, 12U height and 480 mm depth (standard); 350 mm and 610 mm (option). Manufacturing cases of other dimensions by custom order is available.

Plastic cases of EMS series

EMS plastic case-racks are quite good for outside operating, even though they do not have antivibrator protection. The cases' carcass, made out of polycarbone plastic with reinforcing ribs, are characterized by high shock resistance and rigidity. Carcass's angles may employ special rubber softeners as additional option. EMS cases may accept equipment both from frontal side and from upper side, which is quite convenient for audio equipment (e.g. sound mixer). One peculiarity of EMS cases is possibility of expansion by adding supplementary panels.

There are available two cases' lines, differing by the rack's depth: 378 and 455 mm.

EMS case-racks may be completed with additional accessories, including trolleys for transporting the case inside operating rooms, stationary and sliding shelves, solid and dinking cap panels, etc.
