Sanyo video projectors for an electronic cinema Sanyo Electric company produce more than 20 models of multimedia projectors with luminous flux 700…10000 ANSI-lm, weight 1.9…38 kg and resolution up to 2K. The greatest interest for E-Cinema the wide-aspect-ratio models of PLV series are introduced, for which the mode of display of movies is the basic and also high-resolution projectors of PLC series. Features of modern projectors Sanyo of PLV series with resolution not less 1280×720 and of the PLC-UF15 model with 4:3 format in the table are given. From the table follows that all Sanyo projectors are provided or may be completed by zooms, allowing the picture size to adjust. Thus the ratio of projection distance to the screen image width (the projection ratio) is changed. Lens Shift function allow to displace the projected image concerning the screen in vertical and horizontal direction, the projector position not changing. Lens Shift ranges in the table are specified in percentage to the appropriate picture size. It remains rectangular at image shift by Lens Shift function if the projector is installed on the base, which is perpendicular to the screen plane. The keystone distortion arising at infringements of the specified perpendicularity may be eliminated by de-energizing of a part of pixels of the LCD-modulators making a frame projection framework not rectangular.
All projectors operate with component video signals Y-Pb/Cb-Pr/Cr, as well with composite and S-Video signals with chrominance on sub-carriers. Chrominance systems of NTSC, PAL, SECAM and component video signals are defined in the projector automatically or may be assigned by the user. Display of computer video signals, at least, in that degree which is necessary for display of digital image is provided also. Sanyo projectors are equipped with a wide set of adjustments of the image features. With the exception of brightness, contrast ratio, sharpness and a saturation control, the application of automatic linearization of the channel of luminance amplitude feature by criterion of identical perceptibility of grey gradations on dark and bright background and introduction of gamma correction under the discretion of the user is stipulated. The picture color palette correction by the RGB level change and color temperature choice is stipulated. In Sanyo projectors the program of processing of the video signals, optimized for display of still and “live” images may get out. Groups of the chosen functions and Image adjustments may be kept in the projector memory and used in operation with the appropriate information sources. As consumers are always interested by opportunities of reception of the large and bright images, the table is finished by corresponding data received by calculation and confirmed experimentally. Calculations were carried out at normative screen intensity for the blacked out rooms, which for video projectors according to SMPTE is 12 fL (foot-lambert), that is approximately equal to 41 cd/m² (1 fL = 3.43 cd/m²). Thus the width and length of the cinema hall were accepted in 1.25 and 2 times larger screen width of 2.35:1 ratio, and capacity was estimated by criterion not less than 1 m² on a seat. Projector Sanyo PLV-Z2Besides the wide-screen modulators, the PLV-Z2 projector attracts the attention by wide opportunities of installations in small rooms. Due to short-focusing zoom and Lens Shift function any kinds of a projection, including descending with installation of projector on a shelf in the hall corner or on an arm with reflecting mirror and vertical wall fastening may be realized. Control of focusing and scaling is made by turn of levers on appropriate lens rings, and displacement of Lens Shift — by rotation of profile disks located near to the lens. The control system advantage is well balanced screen menus with clear pictograms and an opportunity of an output of screen inscriptions in Russian.
Projector Sanyo PLV-70
Zoom lens of this model is provided with the electric drives, allowing to operate by focusing, size and location of the screen image. The special attention is paid to opportunities of the image chrominance correction. So, the Color Management function can change the color of determined fragments of the image, for example a separate flower in bouquet or up to eight different subjects of interior with introduction of correction in Color Management List providing storage up to eight corrections. The complete lens Standard provides an opportunity of PLV-70 application in modern cinema halls which length is exceeded the screen width by 1.8…2.4 times. The opportunity of provision by wide-angle and long-focusing zoom lenses is the advantage of PLV-70. The projector is provided with the combined panel of wire and IR remote control. Opportunities of wire control of scaling and Lens Shift function are convenient at combining of images from two projectors to one screen and layout of projector in the equipment room separated from the hall. The luminous flux falling on the screen, is doubled, that is under the same luminance the screen area may be double. Projector Sanyo PLV-HD10This projector satisfy to the highest requirements by the whole set of features of the luminous flux, resolution and contrast ratio. It is characterized by extremely high reliability and wide communication opportunities. The first is provided with use of four lamp lighting engineering system. In case of any lamp failure the projector is automatically turned to economic mode of operation with two lamps. At failure of a lamp in economic mode the projector continues to operate with one lamp that provides even in extreme situations to terminate the presentation serviced by this projector. The economic mode of the projector may be determined by the user, and at permanent operation with two lamps their resource is spent progressively. The projector is provided with individual counters of the accumulated resource of every lamp, indication system of the condition of each lamp and warning system for their replacement.
PLV-HD10 includes four connector groups executed structurally as removable modules by several versions. The standard complete set is the following:
Furthermore as Input 4 group the modules of six other versions, for example POA-MD13NET, providing the projector operation in local network of the commercial cinematography may be established. Projector HD10 gives an opportunity of a choice of the programs optimized for typical video signals, and also creation and storage in projector memory of ten different programs, in each of which values of 14 parameters may be chosen or established. Besides it is possible to determine three levels of noise-reducing processing of video signals, the variant of progressive or initial display of interlacing information sources. Display with recovery of anamorphic images to 4:3 HDTV (Anamorphic) images is stipulated. Advantage of PLV-HD10 projector is ability of display of video material of standard 1980×1080 with 30…36-bit chrominance for E-Cinema without compression and raster transformation. Sanyo Electric company are produced some models of stationary projectors (category F), two of which — PLV-WF10 and PLC-UF15 — are the alternative for PLV-HD10 for application in large halls. The cost of two PLV-WF10 projectors is almost in 2.5 times less, than one PLV-HD10 projector, which is replaced with increase of luminance, but the resolution will be twice worse. The PLV-WF10 projector is equipped with motorized drive Lens Shift and three modules of connectors which may be chosen by customer, in particular by POA-MD08HD (SMPTE-292M, HD-SDI 720p, 1035i, 1080i 50/60) module. Outwardly the PLC-UF15 projector does not almost differ from PLV-HD10, but is equipped with modulators of 4:3 format, that is on the screen 16:9 75% of luminous flux and the image of 1600×900 resolution are fallen. The projector is 40% cheaper than PLV-HD10, concedes to it by luminance of the wide-screen image and in 1.5 times by resolution. The projection optics for PLV-WF10, HD10 and PLC-UF15 is ordered from optional set which contain 9 lenses. Six of them are equipped with electric drives and provide the scaling repetition factor, sufficient for service by PLV-WF10 and HD10 projectors the universal screen which height is identical to any projection format, and the excessive width is covered with curtains. Operation of several PLV-HD10, PLC-UF15 projectors with normal and long-focus lenses for the projection of identical images on the general screen with multiple increase of luminous flux is stipulated.
