Video projectors from Christie Digital Systems In 2004 the Christie Digital Systems Company celebrates the 75-years anniversary. Since 1929 Christie Digital produces projection installations for cinematography and in 1979 the company has let out the first models of professional video projection systems. Christie Digital has received the reputation of the world famous designer and the manufacturer of professional equipment for video projection and cinema. More than 50 thousand Christie projectors of various purposes all around the world are established. In present Christie Digital Systems produce five models of projectors for the digital cinema, four models of the specialized projectors for three-dimensional cinema and two models of projectors for low budget cinemas. Projector Christie CP2000H is one of the best projectors for digital cinema with large size of the screen. Christie CP2000H has three-chip light system of image making by 2K resolution of DLP Cinema type. In the projector the latest “superblack” 1.25" micro mirror light modulators Darkchip2 DMD (Digital Micro mirror Device) with the reflection angle 12° are used.
Physical resolution of the Christie CP2000H projector is 2048×1080, that allows to display the HDTV video signals without distortion. In on/off modes the contrast ratio of image is more than 500:1/1700:1. In new projector the brighter xenon lamp Christie CDXL by power of 2.0…4.5 or 6.0 kW is used. The luminous flux created by a lamp (about 30000 ANSI-lm) allows to work with the screen by 23 m width. The system of automatic alignment of the lamp position on three axes Christie LampLOC enables to receive an uniformity of picture level more than 90% over all area of the screen. The monitoring system of luminance of lamp Christie LiteLOC supports an identical intensity level of the image during all service life of a lamp. The projector processor is provided by the 45-bit bus (three 15-bit RGB channels) for color processing that provides the 35 billion colors palette on the screen. The projector is completely compatible with all HDTV standards, including 1080p 24p/24psf. The device is provided by all necessary interfaces SDI, HD-SDI, DVI for connection of digital sources of video signals. Optionally the projector is completed with eight replaceable lenses with Zoom function and anamorphote adapter Anamorphic Lenses 1.26:1, and also with full-function system for viewing of 35 mm film. The diagnostics system Christie SSM provides the local monitoring and control of the projector functioning with the help of sensor panel TPC (Touch Panel Controller). Additionally the projector may be equipped with the network adapter of system of remote control Christie NET and CineNET with connection to computer network 10/100 BaseT and an output in the Internet.
Projector Roadie 25K is the latest model of universal projector. Roadie 25K may be used not only at digital cinemas, but also in the large conference halls, at exhibitions and for setting of concert performances. For the first time the Roadie 25K has demonstrated at exhibition InfoCom 2004 in Atlanta. It is equipped with three chips DLP 2K Darkchip2 DMD with physical resolution 2048×1080 samples. Image contrast ratio is more than 1500:1, and at the high-contrast ratio lenses application — more than 2000:1. Luminous flux of the projector is 8000…25000 ANSI-lm depending on the lamp power consumption. There is also The 10-bit processor for processing of RGB colors is available also. To connect the various sources of video signals the Roadie 25K is provided by a set of analog and digital interfaces Video/S-Video (NTSC/PAL/SECAM), RGBHV/YPbPr, DVI-I/D. The frame scanning frequency is in the range of 23.97…150 Hz, the line frequency — in the range of 15…120 kHz. Roadie 25K is equipped with the system of diagnostics and control Christie NET provided by opportunity of connection to a computer network 10/100BaseT and by output in the Internet.
The projector for 3D-cinema Mirage 6000 is the projector provided for demonstration of “three-dimensional” video films on the large screens. It has been made on the basis of technology DLP with use of three chips Dark Metal DMD by 1280×1024 SXGA resolution. Technology of optical system making SLIC (Spatial Light Imaging Construction) allows to receive the image contrast ratio more than 800:1. The xenon lamp with 800 or 1200 W power consumption allows to receive a luminous flux equal to 6000 ANSI-lm at uniformity of picture level more than 90% over the screen area. The monitoring system of luminance of the Christie LiteLOC lamp supports the same intensity level of the image during all service life of a lamp. In the projector the system PCA (Primary Color Adjustment), regulating the basic colors, is built. The processor for color treatment is provided by 13-bit reconstructable gamut-table. Mirage 6000 reproduces 13.7 billion colors. It is equipped with system DIA (Dark Interval Adjustment). The built-in module 3D Stereo allows to receive the clear synchronous image. The frame frequency is in the range of 24…108 Hz, the line frequency is in the range of 15…120 kHz. Bandwidth of video signal is 160 MHz. The projector provides the display of video signals by resolution 1600×1200 (UXGA), and in the stereo mode by resolution 1280×1024 (SXGA) with frame frequency 108 Hz and line — 111 kHz.
Analog and digital sources of video signals are connected to the projector with interfaces Video/S-Video (NTSC / PAL / SECAM), RGBHV/YPbPr, DVI-I/D, optionally the boards for work with signals SDI and HD-SDI are supplied. The projector controlling is provided by remote control IR-panel or network controller Christie NET. The projector Christie LW40U for low-budget cinemas was developed as the economic decision for video halls with spectator seats in the range of 100…300 and the maximal size of the screen up to 15.2 m on a diagonal.
The projector is based on LCD-technology with the use of three 1.2" chips p-Si with microlens structure. Physical resolution of the projector is 1366×768 (WXGA), resolution for signals HDTV is 800 TV lines. Due to application of two UHP-lamps by 265 W each the luminous flux of the projector is 4000 ANSI-lm. The image contrast ratio is more than 900:1. The built-in scaling unit is functioned with input signals by VGA (800×600) … UXGA (1600×1200) resolution. The support of the formats of the TV standard and HD signals 480/30i, 480/30p, 720p, 720/30p, 1035, 1035/30i, 1080/25i and 1080/30i is provided. There is built-in automatic multi standard decoder PAL, PAL-M, PAL-N, NTSC, NTSC4.43 and SECAM. The frame frequency is in the range of 50…120 Hz, the line frequency is in the range of 15…120 kHz. The video signal bandwidth is 250 MHz. The servo-driver provides the control of the focal length, sharpness adjustment, raster displacement (Zoom, Focus, Shift). Optical shift of the image in vertical direction is ±10% without distortion of geometrical picture sizes. Digital correction of a trapeze in vertical direction is ±40%, in horizontal direction ±10%. The maximal digital magnification is 49x. There is a mode of automatic installation (phase/tracking/position), and it is the digital system of the three-dimensional analysis and the video signal noise reduction as well. The projector has a set of analog and digital interfaces Video/S-Video (NTSC/PAL/SECAM), RGBHV/YPbPr, DVI-I/D. Optionally the projector may be completed with one of eight replaceable lenses, a board for connection of digital signals SDI or HD-SDI, a 10-bit board of co-processor and network controller Christie NET for the remote monitoring and control of the projector.
