Controllers from Hi Tech Systems

Still recently the controllers in video production were applied only for linear video-tape editing. They were used for assembly, insertion through video and audio and had no a rotary control handle (jog/shuttle) as transverse-track VTRs did not provide the search of a fragment with viewing.

For today the progress in development of controllers has reached dizzy heights. It is already impossible to present viewing of the air transmissions of sport competitions without replies of the most interesting moments in the slow motion. During direct translation of sport and entertainment events the main episodes should be operatively reproduced in reply with an opportunity of the playback speed change. Thus there should not be stop of the event recording. All this can do the Slow Motion controller. The ergonomic control panel with jog/shuttle for fast search, T-bar for smooth change of slow-acting playback speed and the digital keyboard for a call of events on the placed marks — all this is meant in a general configuration of any model of the controller and provides fast and convenient control of disk recorders and typical VTRs. Disk recorders are optimally approached for the decision of a task of slow motion and instant reply. In this case the director does not need any time for tape rewind and search of the necessary episode. While one of channels of a recorder will reproduce event in the slow motion mode, other channel will continue the video recording. Besides it is possible very quickly to create sequences of fragments of the most interesting moments in real time, without of translation interrupting.

Controllers of HT800s series by Hi Tech Systems company represent the universal decision for illumination and registration (editing) of events on the air, demanding the constant playback in the slow motion. Controllers are delivered in three versions: with two, four and eight ports of control and also work with one, two or four two-channel disk recorders accordingly (one channel on recording, the second on playback) or with two, four or eight VTRs in a playback mode.

HT800s series controller

In controllers the opportunity of adjustment of functions for special application, including an adjusted range of values of speed for controls jog/shuttle and T-Bar is stipulated. During recording in memory of the controller may be kept up to 250 edit marks. The buttons “last”, “next” and “previous” provide the operative access to the material. The Live mode allows to be switched instantly from the air to playback. The director may unite any chosen channels of record and playback that provides the convenience of arrangement of marks and fast choice of the necessary fragment for reply. All installations and control marks are kept at the supply switching off. In a disk mode the controllers allow for each recording channel (up to four channels) to establish a mode of a loop for recording. At the same time each reproducing channel (up to four channels) is accessible for playback from any place of the recording channel. Pressing of one button the operator may place control marks on a material transmitting through recording channel and to mark video through playback channel for smooth distribution of clips without the recording stop.

The basic features of Hi Tech HT888s (HT884s, HT882s) controllers are the following

• Control up to 8 VTRs or up to 4 two-channel disk recorders;
• Keeping up to 250 edit marks for one channel;
• Programming of output marks (+ “stop”, + “playback”, + “reply”, + “continuation of record”);
• Keyboard for input and editing of marks, for call of a time-code;
• Range of the playback speed change for jog/shuttle is -200…+200% from general speed;
