VSS-2 Teleprompter

Teleprompter VSS-2 of Videoservice Company (Odessa, Ukraine) is constructed under the traditional layout and consists of a platform, a semi-transparent mirror in a tube, a pedal of control and the specialized software.

The platform is made of a light aluminum structure on which the mobile platforms for fastening to a support are located, installations of the camera, of the counterbalance, and also removable arms for fixing a tube with a mirror, and installations of the monitor. The design is adapted for use of any types of cameras, monitors and tripods.

The used mirror does not distort a color gamut as it has the uniform spectral characteristic in all seen range with a transparency 70 ±1.5%. (Study was carried out in scientific research institute of physics of Science Academy of Ukraine). The mirror by size 400×400 mm is fixed in a tube from an aluminum structure and sheet steel. In a back part of a tube there is a window for the camera lens, supplied with a sleeve from a lightproof fabric.

Though the design of a platform allows establishing anyone inexpensive multimedia or video monitors on the CRT basis, the recommended complete set of delivery are included the flat liquid crystal monitor with 15" diagonal. It is connected with large weight of CRT monitors, and each superfluous unit of weight of the monitor results in increase of weight of all design at two units owing to equivalent increase of a counterbalance. In result the economy on cost of the monitor turns around the big losses on cost of a support (tripod or pedestal). Besides the back hanging down part of the CRT monitor at turn in horizontal direction will rest against legs of a tripod that limits the user in a choice of the support type (in this case the pedestal is only applicable).

Weight of a platform with the mirror, the monitor and the camera may achieve 30 kg and more that cause a necessity to use an expensive tripod or a pedestal.

VSS-2 teleprompter

The typical complete set of delivery of the teleprompter includes the software which allows working in the environment of Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP, using textual format RTF. The program has modes of a typing, editing and moving of the text with adjustable speed, the mode of page change of the text is available also. Control of display modes is carried out with the help of the keyboard, the mouse or a foot pedal included in the complete set with three buttons: “forward”, “back”, “stop”. Combinations of the pressed buttons allow to make active additional functions.

Now there are two models of the teleprompter: studio and mobile. The mobile version differs by using of compact 10" monitor and a mirror of the appropriate size.
