Pinnacle Systems is one of recognized leader in development of professional equipment for video editing. Liquid Edition V5.5 is new product of the company which is saved the best features of old version and has gained some new features.

Pinnacle Liquid Edition is a system of nonlinear editing for high-quality processing of video in DV, DVCPRO25 and DVCAM formats. The system is characterized by functioning in real time, reliability, background calculation of complex effects and suitable interface.

The possibilities of Liquid Edition are enough broad. The system allows to use the unlimited number of video-, audio, animation and graphic layers simultaneously.

Pinnacle Liquid Edition is produced in two versions such as Liquid Edition and Liquid Edition PRO. In standard supply version the controllers IEEE 1394 in version PCI and PCMCIA are available. Accordingly the system can work with DV units only. In contrast to Liquid Edition the version with prefix PRO is based on absolutely other “hardware”. Powerful graphic video accelerator ATI Radeon 8500, combined with controller IEEE 1394, allows to work with DV units, and specialized microcircuit ATI Rage Theater and external switching box provide availability to work with analog composite or Y/C signal. As in Liquid Purple, in Liquid Edition it is possible to use two additional accelerators InTime, having six specialized video processors Philips TriMedia and RAM 128 Mbytes.

Pinnacle Liquid Edition GUI

Pinnacle Liquid Edition V5.5 supports multilayered video effects in real time and include a built-in editor for creation and preparation of material for DVD to recording directly from time scale. For amateurs of video effects the Pinnacle Liquid Edition V5.5 includes the effect editors in real time, which allow to create their own libraries of such effects. Liquid Edition V5.5 uses two central processors and graphic processor of computer video card for ensuring the wider possibilities when working in real time. Naturally, the system requires the powerful video card by GeForce 4 or Radeon 8500 class.

The main possibilities of the system Pinnacle Liquid Edition V5.5 for professional editing in DV format are as follows:

• Suitable Pinnacle Liquid software for nonlinear editing;
• Support up to 5 DV or graphic layers in real time. This function became available due to special technology of the use of two central processors and graphic processor of video card;
• Possibility of the use of the additional InTime accelerators;
• Work with two- and three-dimensional effects, chroma key on color and brightness keys, color correction, subtitles, glare of the lenses and many other effects in real time;
• Preparing the material for DVD directly from time line;
• Creation and editing of animated menu;
• Navigation on ready scene, and DVD recording directly from Pinnacle Liquid software;
• Background rendering of complex effects. The Edition saves the process continuity, and do not make pauses during effect calculation;
• Transition from stationary system on mobile. Software USB-key can be installed in any system.

Pinnacle Liquid Edition V5.5 opens some wide perspectives for journalists due to integration of the systems in single network with remote network storage of video, audio and graphic data. It is important to note that here is possible a network transmission of completed projects directly to broadcasting servers such as Pinnacle Thunder, as well as to other air equipment.
