CineWave is one of the families of the systems for nonlinear editing, produced by Pinnacle Systems on the base of video card Targa.

The system CineWave based on Apple platform (the workstations are Power Mac G4 and G5), is produced in the following versions: CineWave Classic RT, CineWave RT, CineWave RT PRO, CineWave HD.

Each kind of the system is a fireware complex for input, output and processing of video and audio, and consist of 32/64-bit PCI-card Targa Cine Engine with two connectors Digital Tether for connection of external units and software CineAquire for capture and output of video. This set is complemented by some external switching block such as ProAnalog, ProDigital (SDI), Pro Digital Plus, Pro Digital & Analog, ProHD Digital (HD-SDI), allowing to realize input/output of video and audio in a format, required by user. The connectors Digital Tether of Targa Cine Engine card, providing the exchange data speed in any direction up to 1485 Mbit/sec, allow to connect two different switching blocks to one card simultaneously that enables to solve practically any task of video processing by means of CineWave.

Except afore-mentioned components, each CineWave configuration include the Pipeline RS-422 cable for control of different external units (of professional video equipment) by RS-422 interface.

As software for editing video with system CineWave the program Final Cut Pro is used, but for multi-layered editing and effect creation the package of Commotion Pro and Knoll Light Factory is used, which are included (but optionally in some versions) in different configurations of CineWave.

CineWave Classic RT is base version, which on requirement can be upgrade up to any “senior” versions (up to HD) by renovation of software and adding of corresponding switching unit, which is executed the part of work on signal transformation.

The version CineWave RT is base version of CineWave Classic RT added by software for editing and effect creation included in supply. The version CineWave RT PRO has a completing of version CineWave RT, but is provided by extended set of effects, by more powerful tools of colour correction control, by masking of the picture and processing of HD video.

The Targa Cine Engine card, being the basis of any CineWave system, is created on base of the memory centric architecture, which provides by significant advantages over traditional stream centric architecture. This allow the system CineWave to provide the high-quality processing of video signal in presentation of 4:4:4:4 or 4:2:2 at sampling 8, 10 or 16 bits on component, realizing the functioning in real time simultaneously with several miscellaneous (any) formats on single time scale, as well as provide the output up to three streams of 8-bit uncompressed video in PAL and NTSC standards with CCIR-601 resolution, and two streams of graphics with alpha-channel in real time. Besides, the CineWave system allow to realize in real time an output up to two streams of uncompressed 10-bit video of standard resolution and one stream of HD video.

For working with uncompressed HD video of any existing format (1080i/30, 1080i/29.97, 1080i/25, 1080p/24, 1080p/23.98 and even 720p/60) is the CineWave HD version, allowing in real time to execute any necessary operation of high-quality processing of HDTV material, as well as output the video in HD and SD formats simultaneously (including the output of HD video to SD monitor).

The kit of CineWave HD includes any necessary software, intended for video editing and effect creation, switching unit Pro HD BreakOut Box, as well as one of external switching unit such as ProAnalog or ProDigital (SDI). For CineWave HD this allows not only to realize the capture of low resolution video (Photo-Jpeg, DV25/50, CineOffline), but also to produce the processing of video in standard resolution.

The powerful functional possibilities of the CineWave systems can be used for execution of any target to record, to edit and to distribute of digital video, both within the framework of television video production, and for corporative and other special targets. Reasonable selection of CineWave system components provides the high quality of the video processing in real time, a wide range of editing functions and compatibility with different equipment.
