Lenses from “Optics-Elite”
Probably, this is no such person in the world, who did not love the cinema. But only specialists know that neither a film, not a single frame it is impossible to shoot without lens. May be, that it is possible to count on fingers the companies all over the world, which concern with the lens production. One of them is “Optics-Elite” company which is resided in Saint-Petersburg and is the only company in Russia. The nomenclature of lens produced by the company is enormous and all of these are run on the level of the best world standard, but some models exceed the products of the leading world producers. Again, there are such lens, which are released only by “Optics-Elite”.
The model row begins with S35 mm lens line. 18 Elite products are included in this line. The aperture ratio of the main model row is 1.2 and this row is equipped by standard European bayonet fastening PL made from stainless steels. The units are characterized by soft movement, perfect design and high optical features. In 2002 on screens the film “Moscow” had issued, which was shot by Ilhovsky with “Optics-Elite” lens and was awarded in Moscow for the best operator work. Presently, using such lenses operator Astahov shoots the film “Great Lame”. This line of the lens complements two models with variable focal lengths — Elite 2.8/25-80 and Elite 2.8/120-520. They are attractive by its compactness. The first of them was used for shooting one of the American blockbusters with Arnold Shvarcenegger as main hero. Moreover, the Elite 2.8/25-80 was used in 70% shooting time at whole, the many of shoots were made from helicopter.
On the contrary, the Elite 2.8/120-520 lens is bulky. His weight is 17 kg, and such range of the focal length change there are no beyond this class of lens. Under it production the new glass OK-4 was used/ the process of this kind of glass can execute only several specialists in Russia. Besides this lens has the best optical features. For example, the resolution is 200/200 lines/mm, and lowering of luminosity does not exceed 45%.
To each of these lenses the company releases the anamorphote extensions for shooting in broad formatting, with doubling of focal length. The line of anamorphote lens is produced by “Optics-Elite” for wide-screen cinema. In this line 9 models are included, and it can be complemented by two aforementioned units. The lens with 1.8 aperture ratio does not produced by any company. Again, the lens with focal lengths equal to 24.5 mm are produced by “Optics-Elite” company only. In general, now anamorphote lenses are issued by only two companies in the world: Panavision (USA) and “Optics-Elite” (Russia). In 2003 the film “136 sonnets” was released, which was shot with these lenses by director German “the younger”, which is a son of the famous Russian cinema director. The premiere of this film took place on Venetian film festival. The cylindrical glasses used in these lens, have micron accuracy of the processing and can be fabricated by high-level specialists only.
If feature films occasionally are in long wait to issue on Russian screen, that promotional and music clips and films (and the majority of domestic serials), shot by lens line of S16 format, and have been seeing by almost all Russian viewers. The line consists of 10 lenses. All of these are small-dimensioned; their maximum weight does not exceed 1 kg. For its fastening to camera is the PL-connector, executed from stainless steels. The high optical features and new improved design do them very suitable in shooting, and Elite 2/4.5 “fish eye” model allows to shoot with pick-up angle equal to 90°.
The last developments of “Optics-Elite” company are connected with lens for electronic cinema and TV in HD format. The line includes 7 models, supplied by CCD 2/3". Their features are as following:
The Ingenious design and standard blending connector allow to install the lens on any television camera. In arsenal of the company there is a single lens in the world — Elite Reverse Perspective Lens with the inverse perspective. In this lens the idea is incarnated, which was expressed by scientist Raushenbah one hundred years back. It essence in that that back plan does not decrease, but increases. The change of perspective is in the range from 2 to 15°. All Russian icons are pictured in inverse perspective. This manner was used by many prominent artists of the world. While possibility of the lens is limited by maximum distance of the shooting equal to 750 mm, but it is important that under its development and fabrication a set of new glass of the original constructive decisions was used, and the main is that a scientific idea is incarnated in metal and glass.
