Wireless Transfer of Data from DY-DV5000 Camera with the Help of KA-DV 5000 Adapter

Review contents:

The one who at least once used DY-DV500 video camera managed to appraise this facility. Not so long ago in best DY-DV500 traditions by JVC Company was created a new model DY-DV5000. This is professional shoulder video camera with numerous new functions, improved signal processing and two new tape decks.

Besides, DY-DV5000 has an option of streaming broadcasting (when using KA-DV 5000 adapter). It allows getting streaming video ready for broadcasting in Internet, to perform high quality recording of data (up to 12 kbit/sec) and many other directly from the camera. With the help of this option it is also possible to easily save configurations of camera setting chosen by operator.

When KA-DV 5000 adapter with network PCMCIA cart (usual or wireless) connects to DY-DV5000, camera transform on user’s choice in intellectual web-camera or in reporter’s camera with an opportunity of wireless connection with linear or nonlinear assembly station, or in camera, in which, together with cassette video can be save on firm memory card.

Main interest provokes an opportunity of wireless video data transfer. Field experiments showed, that with network PCMCIA card of 802.11b standard maximal distance from receiving facility achieves 200…250 m in conditions of direct visibility. This figure highly depends on atmosphere conditions and barriers that harden normal passing of the signal. For closed premises this distance is smaller on order and is about 25…30 m. In that case presents of serious barriers such as walls armature, big amount of radio electron apparatus, etc plays its part. This is problem is not so serious as it seems as the standard of more and more popular LAN wireless connection foresees presence of big amount of repeaters and signal receivers.

KA-DV 5000 adapter reliably fixes between camera and battery module. The space for setting of PCMCIA adapter looks standards as at most notebooks and is reliably protected from the impact of external factors by flap lid. Due to the renewing internal software KA-DV 5000 already now supports huge number of PCMCIA facilities and should support new standards of Wireless LAN.

To finish it is necessary to add that option of wireless data transfer with the help of KA-DV 5000 adapter is rather comfortable to use for so-called “peeping” by giving the signal from the camera to control monitor. That simplifies director’s work with remote operator, situated, for example, in the wings or in foyer during filming of concert or other activity.
