Mobile television station of Sat-Comm manufacture English company Sat-Comm was founded about 4 year ago and showed itself as experienced specialist in design of mobile TV stations of various purposes. The company was established by initiative of former employees of Megahertz company, famous to specialists for its MTSs. For the quite short time period has equipped with its MTSs great number of TV and radio companies in various countries: Alpisat (Italy), Anglia TV, Antena One (Romania), Arena Mobiles (Great Britain), Astrolabio (Portugal), BBC News, British Telecom, Broadcast Video (Israel), DFA (Germany), DMS (Ethiopia), Image Unlimited, ITN, LNN, MSL, Polish TV (Poland), Provideo (Denmark), Racetech, Reuters, RTE, Setanta, Swedish TV (Sweden), Tanzania TV (Tanzania), Tyne Tees TV and others. Now Sat-Comm stock contains a range of mobile stations models and transport systems for TV reporting and outside shooting. One of the stations is a compact satellite Flyaway system of Chameleon model. This station contains all necessary equipment, which is placed in several transport flight-cases and at small stands including signal coding devices, modulator, transmitter, and antenna. The station employs the following modulation types: QPSK, 8PSK and 16QAM. The system is L-Band compatible. Here operating in MCPC multi channel mode with the help of commutation ASI system is available. Equipment control is provided by standard LAN interface. Equipment set includes monitors and spectrum analyzer. 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 signal coders of MPEG-2 format are basic. The station is capable of power supply and synchronization emergency backup. At field conditions, the station rolls in during several minutes.
Cygnus B is one of the inexpensive and compact mobile stations. It is a mobile TV station for gathering news and further signal transmitting onto satellite in Ku-band. The station employs Mercedes chassis (equipment weight makes 2,8 t). TV equipment is selected by the customer, but there is a standard set of equipment necessary for normal functioning offered by the company (continuous power supply system, ventilation and heating equipment, lighting facilities, and also cable layout). Structure of receiving-broadcasting and antenna-feeder equipment is agreed with the customer at preliminary stage. Mini MTS for gathering news and further signal transmitting onto Perseus communication satellite of Galaxy series differs from the Cygnus MTS by enlarged body dimensions. It is based on Mersedes chassis of other type, which is designed for 3,5 t weight. Here operator feels more comfortable (he may even stand at his full height). For this MTS the company recommends diesel generator with reduced noise level of Fischer Panda type (6,5 kW). The advantage of this MS, as well as of Cygnus MTS, is that in many countries it is enough to have standard license to drive this vehicle. The body contains three full-format equipment stands. Ventilation and heating systems are available. Pegasus MTS is next in Sat-Comm range. It is also a satellite MTS for gathering news and signal transmitting at Ku-band, but of larger dimensions, which allows placing equipment of 4,6 t total weight. Pegasus MTS employs more powerful diesel generator (10 kW) of Fischer Panda manufacture. The company recommends 4:2:2 signal coder with PAL and SDI video output and two outputs of stereophonic sound signals as standard equipment set. There also offered built-in transformer with signals at L-band. Equipment set is available of input of ASI signal for multi channel MCPC broadcasting for QPSK/8PSK/16QAM signal modulation types at 28 Mb/s. Hercules MTS is a much larger station for satellite gathering and news broadcasting, which is also designed for signal transmitting at Ku-band. Its chassis’s load capacity makes also 4,6 t. Fischer Panda (12 kW) is used as diesel generator. For this station the company recommends super light high-performance antenna of 1,5 m in diameter (made of coal-fiber) capable of motorized turning at three coordinate axes, linear polarization, and two-port receiving-broadcasting system with rejector at transmitting channel. Transmitting band makes 13,75…14,5 GHz, receiving band is 10,7…12,75 GHz. Hercules MTS employs the same standard equipment set as at Pegasus MTS. Classic Sat-Comm mobile TV stations that are not specially designed for gathering news with further signal transmitting onto satellite are represented by Pantheon series. The series contains two-camera Centaur mini MTS with triaxial basic stations, ten-input digital (SDI) video mixer, digital 8×8 (SDI) video matrix, 12-channel sound mixer and 8×8 sound matrix for stereo signals in basic configuration. Three- or four-camera Andromeda MTS goes after Centaur station. It employs chassis designed for 4,6 t loads. Basic configuration is featured by 24-channel video mixer with 1,5 M/E buses, possibility of graphics introduction, character generator Still store device, 16×16 video matrix, 24-channel sound mixer, and 16×16 sound matrix. Five- and six-camera Apolo MTS is designed for most demanding customers. With three-section body MTS equipment set contains 24-channel video mixer with 1,5 or 2 M/E buses, graphics and character generator, digital 32×32 video and sound (stereo) matrixes. Sound mixer may support up to 32 channels. Eight-camera Zeus mobile station is the largest MTS of Sat-Comm manufacture. It is a powerful station based on chassis of 9 m length and up to 13 t load capacity with three-section body. Basic configuration may include 32-channel video mixer with 2,5 M/E buses, graphics and character generator, digital 64×64 central matrix, 48-channel sound mixer (at customer’s option sound section may be isolated from other MTSs sections), 24-channel talkback and 32×32 sound stereo matrixes. In conclusion, it is worth mentioning that at customer’s option specialists of Sat-Comm company may realize individual projects of mobile television or Flyaway stations with their configuration depending on concrete broadcasting tasks. “Sankom-Pro” company |
