The Nec Plasma Monitors The Nec Corporation relates to the world leaders in the production of computer periphery and pays special attention to the quality of the monitor image. Problems of its increase applying to the plasma monitors are in the necessity of relaxation of influence of external lightning of the screen, widening the area of its comfort viewing with high accuracy of reflection. For the solution of such problems the Nec engineers had first created the RGB filters CCF (Capsulated Color Filter), which were situated in front of each plasma cell according to the colority of its emanation. As a result the light floe of the external lightning of pixels with white color and its influence on the contrast and color saturation of the image decrease significantly. CCF filters also maintain the function of the cell-emanated specter by the criteria of accuracy of reproduction of color palette with weakening of the specter rare gases multipliers situated in the plasma condition. However to press the own emanation of neon and orange multiplier of the luminescence of red phosphor cannot be totally by the CCF filters. That is why in the up-to-date models of the Nec plasma monitors the additional filter of the color selectivity AccuCrimson, which makes the red removal of the color palette in genral almost unnoticeable, is set. The diagram of colority explaining the influence of these filters is shown on the picture.
Now let's address the table, where the main parameters of the Nec plasma monitors are listed. In these table it is remarkable that there is no data about the brightness of the image. The reason is that the parameters of brightness and contrast of any plasma panels depend from the content of the image and generally accepted methodic of measuring allowing by their results comparing the production of different producers, do not exist yet. On practice, all plasma displays are lighted by the processor, distributing the selected for that part of the source power by all pixels of the plasma panel proportionally to the needed brightness according to the signals from the shot memory. The NEC monitors such processor is called PLE (Peak Luminance Enhancement). If the image represents the combination of white spots on the black background then APL defines the ration of general square white spots to the square of all screen and achieves 100 % at the reflection of absolutely white field. The increase of APL higher than the level of, for example, 20 % , what depends from the efficiency of the cooling system leads to the hyperbolic decrease of the image brightness to the minimum on the totally white screen. It is obvious that if the parameters of brightness and contrast are measured at APL = 4 % , then they will be much smaller than at APL = 100 % , and unachievably high on practice if the are valued by the emanation of one pixel in the absolute darkness. From the table of the free data of brightness and contrast of the plasma production of nine Japanese companies, published in the last issue of JEY magazine in last year follows, that for the leading in this table Nec PX-42VT2 model they are 400 cd/m2 and 100:1 correspondingly. These values can be carried to the category of best practice figures as they were measured in the lighten premises. Also the highest image brightness values of the other producers models are related here to the brightness of the plasma panel itself, i.e. without considering of the weakening on the front
The NEC Corporation successfully operates in that direction. So, the level of the acoustic noise of the plasma monitors of the new NEC models turned out to be decreased to 22 dB and the adapted system Adopted PLE (APLE), functioning depending on the type an character of the image, is created. The maximum brightness level is provided by the system at the demonstration of the computer graphics (Normal condition), and economy conditions Theater and Lock with decreased and minimum brightness are appropriate for darkened quarters and weaken effects of edging of contrast segments of the image and appearance of after images. The Screen Saver functions are perfected and made available to the user, allowing screen protection from the appearance of the after images (Orbiter, Image Reversal and Grey Level) and their removal (All White and Screen Wiper). The Orbiter function provides a cycling removal of the image regarding the screen, Image Reversal provides the transfer of images in negative with settled duration and period, and third provides the lightning with chosen brightness level of the screen sides at the viewing of the programs of 4:3 formats. For deleting of after images the function All White can be used, which transfers for the settled time all pixels of the plasma panel in the condition of the white field showing or Screen Wiper, which periodically creates the image of bright white vertical band on the screen moving horizontally with settled speed. All Nec plasma monitors have wide commutation opportunities, perfectly operate with the component RGB and Y, Cb (Pb), Cr (Pr) signal of 480p, 480i, 525p, 525i, 540p, 625p, 625i, 720p, 1035i, 1080i versions with consideration of through-line and progressive broach and are equipped with the system of noises on the image decrease. In them the function of automated shutting down of the power through the settled time without commands of the monitor control can be included. In the set of all Nec monitors is included the combined infra-red remote control console with cutoff point for the wire control
The special attention should be paid to the models 42MO3 with the passive (noiseless) cooling system, 42PD3, capable of operating in the set of the video wall without the additional facilities, showing their part of the general image, and 61MP1 with maximum screen sizes. The Nec plasma panels are authorized on the world marked and applied in the production of the Fujitsu, Thomson, Sony etc companies.
