The Split-Screen Display Devices of the Video Information of the Miranda

The Canadian Company Miranda Technologies Inc. produces the very range specter of production for the needs of the TV broadcasting including multifunctional processors for the reproduction of the split-screen images. At that the image can be seen on the different display devices: from usual computer video monitor or plasma display to the video projector screen or so-called 'video walls' of almost any sizes. Miranda produces few types of such facilities different in the specter of functional opportunities and, of course, cost what predetermines the user's opportunity to chose the model most corresponding to the decision of the technical problem and appropriate cost.

The most simple and, naturally, inexpensive processor of the majority of such facilities is the square-ware generator of Tango model 4:2:2 Quad Split Processor. This facility allows producting on the screen for different video images of SDI signal of 4:2:2 formats (270 Mbit/sec) with ten-unit discretization with included sound signal. There exists an opportunity of the choice of raster sides ration of 4:3 or 16:9. Under each image the under monitor panels (UMD) are provided for the outlet on them the information about the status and condition of the signal source (Tally). The panels can function in static conditions (identification of the source), as well as in the conditions of control of the switching distribution matrix or from the own controller UMD (change of information about the sources, etc). The control of the UMD panels is done on the GPI interface. On the front board of the processor the control means are situated, with the help of which the operator can operatively change the position and amount of the images on the screen, up to the situation of one of them on the whole square of the screen. Video signal on the outlet of the Tango processor are NTCS/PAL analogous composite. On the each entry in the processor the independent shot synchronizer is situated and in the exiting signals the genlocks are restored. There is the build-in generator of color bands and also the RS-232 and RS-422/485 ports. Additionaly the panel of remote control can be ordered. In the long-term storage of the processor the tens of in advance set values of different parameters of the image signals can be recorded and stored. The opportunity of theTango facility setting into the standard 19" body: its size is only 1U of the rack-mount space at the mass of only 2 kg.

Much more powerful reflection facility of the split-screen images of the Miranda Company production is Kaleido-K2. Its exact name is High Resolution Virtual Monitor Wall Processor. This processor allows as Tango reproducing up to 32 images on one screen at the same time. The facility is of 4U size of the rack-mount space and the mass of 15 kg. Kaleido-K2 is capable of visualization of the images of SDI, HD-SDI, VGA and composite video signals. The signal of the sound accompaniment can be of AES formats, embedded or analogous. The processor is developed with taking into account of the opportunities of application in cases of tough using, in particular, the reserving of the processor by power supply etc is provided. Kaleido-K2 provides the reproduction of the image signals of high quality and resolution capacity (1600 per 1200 image elements). Such a resolution was achieved due to the use of the special electron methods of signal processing,

in particular, forced transformation of the horizontal scanning of the entry signals form the through line to the progressive conditions of scanning. The processor allows reproducing the signal of different formats on the screen at the same time. In the Kaleido-K2 body the ports for the distribution of eight four-entry modules and for each entering signal there is the shot synchronizer. The decoding and processing of the stream video is also possible for the remote monitoring through the standard TCP/IP networks.

In the processor's body the space for setting of three sound models for the processing of digital (AES), analogous and embedded sound signal is provided. Each module provides the passing of 16 stereo channels of the signals of sound accompaniment of high quality. Any sound signal included into SDI signal can be taken out from the structure of general digital signal and its leve can be taken out to the virtual measuring instrument situated on the side of each one of the 32 split-screen images reproduced on the general display. Except for the sound signal level the phase correlation between the signal of the stereo mate can be measured. Also for each stereo mate there can be set (and recorded in the long-term storage) requested values of such parameters as, for example, 'ballistics', 'gradient', setting of the bearable peak level, levels of overloading and zero level, etc. Each stereo mate can be connected to the external sound recording facilities through the special cutoff point on the back panel of processor

Kaleido-K2 can be cascaded for the increase of the amount of entry and exit signals or in the purposes of system reservation in case of force major circumstances in case of intensive using. As in the Tango processor under each image there are the under monitor displays UMD for the outlet of necessary information about the signal sources. The display can be hand controlled as well as with the help of switching distribution matrix. In the processor the port for the giving of the of the temporary code to the entry is provided. In that case in each image reproduced on the split-screen it is possible to lead out the necessary temporary values. The counters of direct or reverse counting can be controlled from the remote control panel or from the standard GPI interface.

An opportunity of control and monitoring of sound and video signals parameters is provided. Also these operations can be done with the signal, which parameters are coded in the interval of black-out pulse or in the MPEG-2 transport flow. The condition and parameters of the signals can be selected on the UMD.

Seriously considered software for Kaleido-K2 allows, for example, to video change appearance and get-up of each video image on the screen operatively, controlling the parameters through the network from the usual personal computer. There is an opportunity of independent change of sizes and positioning and also raster sides' ratio of each image. In combination with the opportunity of visualization on the under monitor UMD displays the information about the signal sources, their condition, current time or display of the temporary code, parameters of the sound signals, etc the demonstration of the video materials on video wall in relation to the necessary individual requirements

to the program, chronology, and quality of separate fragments as to the program in general can be easily organized. Besides the setting parameters of each project can be recorded in the long-term storage with the following call in the necessary moment. All listed functional opportunities of Kaleido-K2 processor allow calling it the powerful instrument, allowing significantly increase the sight of each TV program and to rise the rating by that.

Except two processors, that were mentioned above, Miranda continues to produce the previous models of facilities if analogous assignment. For example, split-screen processors of Digital Theatre Pre-Processor DT-4101, Kaleido G2 Multi-Image Display System, Screen-FX/FX Dual, Kaleido-QC models.
