LCD Monitors of the Marshall Company (USA)
By Nickolay Azyn

The Marshall Company produces the LCD monitors for different area of application in various constructive performances. In the line of monitors there models in body as well as unpackaged models, matrix themselves. The company produces matrixes of 1,8"...10,4" size.

All the matrixes have the high resolution (not less than 640 per 480 pixels) and brightness of not less than 200 cd/m2. All the panel are equipped with the composite low-frequency entry and some with the SVGA entry.

On the base of these panels the Marshall Company produces the models in bodies. Very successful and well sold is the 4" V-LCD4-PRO monitor. It is done in the aluminum equipped with two video entries, regulators of the image settings, has the adapter for the video camera fixing, power cable from the source of 12 V tension with the cutoff point of Anton Bauer type. That allows using it as the viewing monitor in many professional and half-professional cameras. Additional to this model the accumulator battery and peak for the screen protection against the screen illumination by direct sun light can be bought.

In the line of the Marshall production there are five more monitors with diagonal of 5"...8", assigned for the out of studio application.

All they can be powered from the source of the 12 V tension and have an opportunity of fixing on the video cameras. The biggest of them V-LCD8-PRO-PAL has the screen of 8" (20 sm) diagonal, equipped with the composite S-Video through entries, build-in loud speaker for the sound reproduction and has not very bad technical characteristics. So the brightness of this monitor is 350 cd/m2, and the resolution capacity of the screen is 1440 per 234 pixels. The weight of the monitor is only 800 grams.

For the studio application the Marshall Company produces LCD monitors with 12"...22" diagonal. All they have the composite and

S-Video entries and computer SVGA entry. All the models of the monitors have different variants of fastening: desktop stand, bracing on wall or ceiling. But these monitors at relatively high image quality and successful performance have relatively high cost. That somewhat limits the specter of their application on the Russian and American markets.

The third direction of the Marshall Company production in the area of LCD monitors is the production of panels of few monitors assigned for the rack mount. In this category Marshall produces 24 different models. There is no sense in the description of all these models, here are just the most interesting of them:

V-R25P assemble
V-R44P assemble

V-R25P is the assembly of ten monitors of 2,5" diagonal each, situated in two rows by five in a row. The height on the construction is only 3U in the rack-mount performance. Each panel has the resolution of 480 per 234 pixels, brightness of 250 cd/m2 and is equipped with the composite video entry with the automatic PAL/NTSC system resolver;

V-R44P is the assembly of 4 monitors of 4" diagonal each, situated in the body of 2U height. This is the most popular model in Russia. Each panel has the resolution of 480 per 234 pixels and brightness of 300 cd/m2. The composite through video entry and the air indicator (tally) are provided. For the each matrix on the front board the regulations of the image parameters are derived. The same in characteristics V-R44P-SDI model is produced, equipped with the SDI entries on each screen.

Marshall produces the panels of three monitors by 4", 5", 5,8" with analogous and SDI entries, from two monitors by 6,4", 7" wide-screen 16:9 with analogous and SDI entries, by 7,9" wide-screen 16:9, by 8,4" wide-screen 16:9 with SDI entries.

The two more interesting models for the rack mount are V-R151P-4 and V-R171P-4. These are the 15" and 17" LCD monitors with build-in processor, which allows depicting on the screens four images at the same time or in series.

All the Marshall monitors, assigned for the rack mount have an opportunity of 90° rotation, providing the regulation of the angle of inclination.

Marshall has one more interesting decision for the presentation and conferences. This is the conferencial microphone combined with the 5" LCD monitor for the reflection of the information. The monitor has the composite and SVGA entries, the microphone is equipped with the standard for the conferencial microphones opportunities, programmed button of turning on/off the sound and the function of remote control. The monitor has the very high-quality matrix with the resolution of 960 per 234 pixels and brightness of 350 cd/m2.
