Electro-Voice special purpose microphones
Victor Kuptsov

Besides professional microphones of a wide application range belonging to N/DYM and Cobalt series, the Electro-Voice corporation is submitted in the Russian market by the specialized RE series microphones.

The TR series microphones are the first candidates when it comes to choosing microphones the requirements for which are caused by their application sphere in radio and television production, though they also are successfully used in concert activity. The RE 50 N/D is a reporter N/DYM-version microphone with increased output power. The distinctive feature of this microphone is that it does not give any "dirty" bass sounding when placing it at a close distance from the speaker's month. The model also features a highly effective housing noise-isolation system and a built-in windscreen. Thanks to a specially selected material of the diaphragm it was possible to optimize both dynamic and frequency ranges. The sound quality is also provided by the additional built-in equalization filter. The microphone housing is characterized by high resistance against extreme environmental factors

taking place at operation out-of-doors: e.g. high humidity, temperature extremes and corrosive effects of salt air and water.

Due to their design, the RE 90 installation version microphones are suitable for specific application. All the microphones have linear frequency response and resistance against self-excitation in the sound path.

At cardioid polar pattern, the rear sensitivity of the microphones is lower than the front one by 15 dB. All the microphones feature a guaranteed uniform directivity pattern, high sensitivity, low noise level, compatible balanced output, high-quality preamplifier, immunity to external RF noise (EMI/RFI), necessary furnished accessories.

The RE 90 H (black housing), RE 90 HW (white housing) is a hanging microphone with an external preamplifier. Offers extremely linear on-axis frequency response. Comes complete with the installation documentation.

The RE 90 L is an omnidirectional lapel microphone with an ultra-miniature, lightweight and steady capsule ensuring stable protection from external RF noise. One of its exceptional advantages is that its preamp is characterized by a comparatively low power consumption level.

The RE 90 B (black), RE 90 BW (white) is a boundary layer microphone which is especially suitable when carrying out programs with several participants compactly sitting, for example, face-to-face behind a round or rectangular small-size table. The microphone itself is incorporated in an ultra-thin (only 16 mm thick) steel case with a strong screening effect; it is placed on a soft non-sliding rubber padding and equipped with a built-in equalization filter. The condition when the sound source is located at an angle of 60° from the horizontal axis is proved to be optimum.

The RE 90 P-12 (281 mm long), RE 90 P-18 (443 mm long) are "public address application" microphones with an ultra-slim flexible "gooseneck". May be installed either on the sound equipment or on stage for work with an acoustic guitar or choir. Offer linear on-axis frequency response. The built-in equalization filter and accessories are available.
