The B1, B3 and TB1 are high-quality condenser microphones with either pressure converter capsules (B1 and TB1 - cardioid directivity pattern) or pressure gradient transducer capsules (B3 - omnidirectional, cardioid, figure-8 selectable patterns). Moreover, the B3 model features a built-in switchable high-pass filter and -10 dB pre-attenuation pad. The B1's major recommended applications are: vocal and speech close-up reinforcement, as well as overhead choirs, strings and percussions. The B3 is a great tool for overhead drums, brass winds and other orchestral instruments. The TB1 is well suited for overhead choirs, strings, percussion, as well as pianos. All the three models are notable for natural sounding, low self-noise, wide dynamic range and, consequently, ability to handle high sound pressure levels with no distortion (B1 - up to 132 dB SPL, B3 - up to 142 dB SPL with cardioid polar pattern and applied pre-attenuation).

The preamplification stage of both the B1 and B3 utilizes FET-transistors and performs as an impedance converter. The output stage employs transformerless design (an ordinary output transformer is replaced by electronic circuitry) that ensures better Common Mode Rejection as well as effective RF-noise suppression.

The TB1 is a vacuum tube (valve) microphone. Its preamplifier circuit uses the 6072 "dual triode" vacuum tube providing the warm transparent sound associated with an expensive quality vacuum tube preamplifier. What's noteworthy is that the TB1 utilizes exceptionally hand-selected vacuum tubes.

The polarization/incandescence voltage for the vacuum tube is provided by a dedicated AC power supply (DJ8). The Studio project microphone capsules are built under the classic "center electrode" scheme ensuring a smooth response over a wide frequency range without unpleasant "boomy" bass. The diaphragm (2.5 cm in diameter) is made from 3 m m thick Mylar film.

All Studio Project microphones feature practically linear uniform directivity patterns. Sounds coming from both the rear and the sides are reproduced faithfully with no added distortion. Each and every microphone comes complete with a power supply and a mains cable, as well as dedicated 7-pin interface cable (TB1), "spider"-type elastic shock mount (B1), microphone stand clip (B3, TB1), foam windscreen, carrying case and operating instructions booklet.
