ABE Elettronica TV transmitters
Victor Polevoy

TV broadcasters are represented by the equipment line manufactured by the ABE Elettronica. The Company has a center with anechoic chamber, certified in 30 MHz...18 GHz band, for testing electromagnetic compatibility and reliability, and subsidiaries that carry all mechanic functions as well as electronic boards assembly by SMD technology.

Using modern field transistors in the company's developments as along with modules and units' unification allowed reducing the cost of the equipment and improving its reliability.

Now a line of unified transistor TV transmitters of 1 W...10 kW with common sound and picture signal multiplication is being manufactured. Transmitters of 1.5 kW use one functionally complete amplifying block, transmitters of 2...3 kW and 5 kW have two and four blocks correspondingly. The transmitter of 10 kW is placed in two racks and has eight amplifiers. Transmitters may be completed with a standby exciter and an automatic commutation unit.

The DMW amplifiers have wide amplification band. It allows using such amplifiers for broadcasting within another frequency channel or as a stand-by for several transmitters, without any adjustments. The band-pass and reject filters' high quality excludes emergence of noise around the neighboring stations as well as distortion of its own signals. The power combiners and splitters in the summation system have regulating elements helping to achieve exact signal summation/splitting, which positively affects the equipment's reliability and functioning quality. Transmitters have reliable high quality switched power supplies. All the transmitters have a one-to-one network transformer installed.

In cases of adverse exploitation conditions, i.e. errors in antenna channel or rise in temperature, the transmitters are capable of reducing power to safe values. In transmitters gradual reducing power to safe values is ensured in cases of adverse exploitation conditions, i.e. errors in antenna channel or rise in temperature. A smooth starting feature allows preventing amplifier's fail in case of any malfunction in the antenna-feeder channel. Microprocessor transmitters control system allows remote control and telemetry. Through GSM or wire telephone line it is possible to control all the parameters whose indication is displayed on the front panel (power of the whole transmitter and its component blocks, amplifiers current, power sources voltage, security sensors status, radiators and ambient temperature, etc.). Apart from controlling, operative management of some parameters, for instance, power output level, is also possible.

For easy remote control of transmitters network or/and distant broadcasting centers ABE Elettronica offers Network Manager hardware consisting of PC software and control units. Transmitters of 1kW already have remote control board in their basic configuration. Thus, transmitter remote control and monitoring becomes possible with the help of a PC, located in the same building, even without Network manager software being used.

Last year the largest interest of the customers was drawn by a new inexpensive compact DMW transmitter of 5kW. The whole transmitter was placed in one 19" 38U-type rack owing to use of the modern elemental base and the rational arrangement of power amplifiers. High reliability during load mismatch is one more feature important for the user.

"PM" Series Microwave Links manufactured by ABE Elettronica are designed for the transmission of radio and TV programs using analog or digital QPSK/QAM modulation within the 7...8 GHz, 15...15 GHz, 20...30 GHz bands. The Series Links are manufactured in portable and fixed versions.
